The watch-hours requirement, not subscribers, is what stalls most channels. Pick a lane, package every upload to earn the click, and protect retention so each view delivers more minutes. Two tools that move that number:
1,000 subscribers for full ad revenue. A lower tier unlocks fan funding (memberships, Super Thanks, Shopping) at 500 subscribers.
4,000 valid public watch hours in the past 12 months, or 10 million valid public Shorts views in the past 90 days — either path qualifies you for the full program.
Yes. The Shorts view threshold (10M in 90 days for the full tier) is an alternative to watch hours, and Shorts ad revenue is shared with creators in the program.
Active Community Guidelines strikes, reused/inauthentic content, or being in an unsupported region. Watch hours from private, unlisted, or ad-skipping sources don't count as 'valid public' time.
