Write the smallest complete story

Start with a character who wants something, an obstacle, and a decision that reveals personality. A long explanation of the fictional world's history can wait.

For an original illustrative premise, imagine a meticulous robot working at a repair desk where customers describe problems imprecisely. In the pilot, the robot must decide whether to follow an impossible request literally or ask a better question.

That scene can show the character's behavior, the setting, and the source of future stories. It does not require a tour of the entire world.

Give the pilot an ending. A teaser that promises a story later may help announce a project, but it cannot fully test whether the story works now.

Limit the expensive variables

List every character, location, prop, and movement that needs to be created. Mark what can be reused and what exists only for one shot.
